The term “Word of Thumb™” was created by us as a way to best describe how content sent through texts is shared with others. If you’re familiar with how “word-of-mouth” communication works, you can likely already guess how its digit-based counterpart functions.
When a subscriber decides to share a piece of content that you’ve offered them to their friends and family, they’re engaging in Word of Thumb™ communication. In many respects, sharing content through a text message is superior to relying on your base to literally spread the word, as it can be rapidly passed on to the friends and acquaintances of those who received your initial text. This way, it winds up on the devices of people who otherwise would’ve never even glimpsed it, and it might even promote some extra opt-ins!
