How to Manually Remove (Opt Out) a Subscriber from Your Text List

Sometimes you may need to manually remove a subscriber from your text list. This process ensures the subscriber will no longer receive messages, while their opt-in record is retained for compliance purposes.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log into your TapOnIt Admin.

  2. In the left-hand navigation, go to AudienceSubscribers.

  3. Use the search bar to enter the phone number of the subscriber you’d like to remove.

  4. Click into the subscriber’s profile.

  5. Within their profile, you’ll see the Markets they are currently subscribed to.

    • In most cases, they will only be subscribed to Default Market.

  6. Click the X next to the Market(s) they are subscribed to.

What Happens Next

  • Removing their market assignments makes them an inactive subscriber.

  • Inactive subscribers will no longer receive messages from your text campaigns.

  • Their opt-in records remain intact, so you still have a record of their consent if you need it in the future.

  • DO NOT click Delete Subscriber. This will delete their records. 

Best Practice: If the subscriber ever opts back in, their history will be preserved, and they can be reactivated without losing previous records.
